Modeling - Editing tricks

We spoke about styling already and how some dress may look extremely different with combinations of multiple items.
Once you decided what you want to wear in your outfit, you need you edit all prims in the correct way.
But remember there will probably be a couple of items which are not compatible worn together, so you might have to decide to change something that in the beginning you were planning to wear.
For example, some big earrings will stick into the high collar of your jacket/dress/whatever, so you will need to change them and get smaller earrings.
Same for the hair.
And then, some items are completely modifiable, some are not. And this will also take part in your styling decisions that you will make once you start editing.

Always check that you are wearing eyelashes.
Remember to put a fingernails cover gloves layer when you wear prim/mesh nails.

Now, check that the eyelashes fit the shape of your eye exactly. If they dont fit perfectly, you just need to spend some time on it. The good thing is: once you edit it correctly, you save it and won't need to change it again!
About the nails cover gloves. They come as gloves layer or as tatoo layer. Both are good. They hide the nails that are on the skin, so that you don't look like you have two nails on a finger. This layer has to be the same shade and color of the skin you are wearing. I suggest you to make for each of your skins you mostly use and to save them with the name of the skin (or color) so that you find them easily. Or even save a copy of the right color gloves in the folder of the skins.
I provide mod/copy/NOtrans gloves in the prim nails I sell, if you don't have gloves with these permissions, I recommend you to get some of mine, as I can assure you they are good quality for models.
Same for the shoes. It is recommended (when the agency you work with doesn't require it as mandatory) to wear shoes with built in feet. So you will have to find the correct color of the skin. I suggest to work on it and once you find the right one to save a copy of the right color for the skins you wear more often. And name them after the skins.
All these color researches have to be done with HIGH graphics settings. Go into preference (ctrl + P), select graphics menu and chose HIGH.
Remember to put it back to lower settings once you are done and especially during shows or rehearsal.

Earrings have to be on the lobe of your ear. As if you were wearing them in real life.

All prims of your dress/accessories have to stay out of your body but don't have to be far from it. An example? What about a belt that disappears into your hips? Not good, uh? But then, what if it floats around your hips? Not so great either!
Try to make it as closer to reality as possible.
And the prims doesn't have to penetrate each other. As said before, no earrings that go into a collar. And pay a lot of attention to your hair! Not a single hairpiece that goes into a piece of dress! Check it very carefully! And if you have a headdress, check that the hair is inside/under/wherever-it-has-to-be and nothing sticks out where it shouldn't.
Change the hair, modify it, stretch it, move it... or make some parts invisible!

This goes good with prim hair. With mesh hair if non rigged you can still work on them and modify a bit. If rigged... well, good luck.
My very personal suggestion is to keep using prim hair for modeling, especially with complicated outfits that need to work a lot on the hair. Or buy new hairstyle  that fits the dress without troubles.

Make ALWAYS a copy before editing. And after that don't be afraid to make experiments. Move and manipulate until it is perfect.

Zoom in as close as you can. To zoom even closer you can use some special commands:
ctrl + 0 --> zooms in
ctrl + 9 --> resets camera position
ctrl + 8 --> zooms out

A perfect editing is when you look at it and it looks like if you were looking in a RL picture. Everything works.
